Oh, Where the Wind Will Take You

"The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”  - Jesus, (John 3:8, NKJV)

In John, the third chapter, Jesus explains to Nicodemus that we must be born again...

"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."  John 3:5-7

In that conversation, Jesus lays out the plan of salvation, how to be born again, explained further by Peter in Acts 2:38-39.  But Jesus also spoke of the freedom, adventure, and power that comes with this new birth, (John 3:8.)

Think of the wind.  The wind takes unexpected turns, freely moving wherever it wants. Rises high. Sweeps low. Moves upon the face of the entire world.  Has a tremendous amount of force.  Impacts every living thing on earth.  It is powerful enough to level cities, yet gentle enough to propel sailboats.  This is what Jesus compares you to, when you are born of the Spirit.

Think of the Spirit.  He will take you on unexpected journeys.  He will raise you high.  He will bring you low, when needed.  He will move you to reach the utter most parts of the world.  He is a tremendous force.  He will impact every part of your life.  He is powerful enough to destroy your adversary, yet gentle enough to propel you forward.  This is what Jesus is doing for you, when you are born of the Spirit.

Now, think of yourself.  Your life will take unexpected turns.  You will rise high.  You will sweep low.  You will reach the utter most parts of the world.  You are a tremendous force.  You will impact the lives of many.  You are powerful enough to destroy the adversary, yet gentle enough to propel people in the right direction.  This is what you will do for others, when you are born of the Spirit.

Oh, where the wind will take you, when the Holy Spirit is that wind. In Him, you are capable of the most extraordinary things!
